Spanking Is Ineffective and Harmful to Children, Pediatricians’ Group Says

The American Academy of Pediatrics stated that spanking as a form or discipline is ineffective and harmful to the health and well-being of children, and to the relationship with their parents. They offered other means of disciplining children such as teaching children how to calm down, rewarding behavior, using timeouts, and helping children understand the connection between behavior and consequences.
